Gain New Social Skills: Learn to Make Friends with Autism
In the beginning, making and keeping friends might seem hard, especially if you haven’t done it much before. You might find it very helpful to find a place where you can talk to people who have the same disability as you and who also worry about making friends. It might be harder to make friends as an adult than it was when you were a kid. As a child, your parents make sure you go to school, church, and neighborhood events. As a young adult, you need to start new conversations with other people. Without the right tools and help, it can be hard to make friends with autism or learn how to keep in touch with people who have cerebral palsy.
Having friends is important until you don’t have anyone to talk to besides your family. Making real relationships with other people is the first and most important thing that young adults need to do to become more independent and successful. The goal of All Friends Network is to be the online friend network that helps kids and teens with autism, cerebral palsy, and other developmental problems make and keep lasting ties. The process starts with chats on our website and the Live-LINK app. Next, you’ll go on trips and get-togethers in person to test your new social skills.
Learn to Build Trust
As you grow and move forward in life, you should always try to make relationships with people who can help you. Everyone has friends who push them to be better and reach their goals, no matter how big or small they are. By giving kids social and mental support, school ties help young kids grow up and become teens. Some of those teens’ and young adults’ friends may have to leave town to go to college or for work or personal reasons. A lot of young people may need to work on their social skills at some point.
It can be hard for anyone to make friends as a young adult, but people with developmental disabilities may find it even harder because they may not have as many chances to do so. Maintaining relationships as you get older has been shown to be good for your health. It will make you feel better on every level to share with people who understand and care about how you’re doing. Talking to someone about your worries about work, family, or the changes you expect as an adult can help you deal with these stresses and worries.
Start New Conversations Online
This is very important for young adults who don’t have any friends besides their family: they need to find ways to meet new people. It’s normal to feel scared about letting people see your weaknesses. The same fears happen to people of all ages, skills, and walks of life from time to time. It is the goal of All Friends Network to give young adults a safe place to go out into the world and make friends with people who share their beliefs, hobbies, and goals. As an online community for people of all ages with developmental disabilities and young adults, our goal is to help our users make meaningful connections with each other.
We are working on projects that will give our people more than just social opportunities. They will also have access to things that will motivate, inspire, and teach them how to do well in the real world. Our goal with the All Friends Network is to make it easier for our members to start conversations and meet new people. We plan to do this by giving them online educational training films, short workshops, and one-on-one meetings. We also want to work with area job placement services to help our people find work. It is the goal of this training to help people become more independent by showing them how to get the jobs they want and live a more joyful and independent life.
